Job Description

About the role

Join Optoma’s growing IT team as we continue modernising our global infrastructure and strengthening our cloud and Microsoft 365 capabilities. This role is central to our transformation programme—driving M365 modernisation, cloud migrations, operational excellence, and enhanced cybersecurity. As we consolidate systems across regions and establish a secure, scalable foundation for future growth, you will act as a technical authority across servers, cloud platforms, virtualisation, identity services, security technologies, and core enterprise systems.

You will act as a senior technical authority across our hybrid environment, working closely with our outsourced partner and internal teams to ensure systems are reliable, secure, and scalable. As the IT function grows, you will also have the opportunity to mentor others and influence the future shape of the team.

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft 365 Modernisation & Application Transformation

  • Drive M365 transformation, including SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and governance frameworks.
  • Deliver migrations from legacy file servers to modern cloud platforms.
  • Align M365 services with identity, compliance, and security requirements.
  • Integrate M365 storage systems with Entra ID, Conditional Access, and wider cybersecurity controls.
  • Drive adoption of modern collaboration tooling and application capabilities across the business.

Escalation, Troubleshooting & Operational Reliability

  • Act as senior escalation point for complex issues and major incidents.
  • Oversee patching, monitoring, disaster recovery, and capacity management.
  • Maintain clear documentation and operational standards.

Infrastructure Engineering & Core Services

  • Support and evolve hybrid infrastructure including servers, virtualisation, identity platforms, networking, and storage.
  • Lead Active Directory and Entra ID administration, lifecycle management, and identity‑centric security controls.
  • Manage enterprise backup, DR, and long‑term platform lifecycle considerations.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Strong technical leadership with the ability to act as an expert escalation point.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability with a proactive mindset.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and manage multiple complex tasks.
  • High attention to detail and rigorous approach to documentation and system design.

Essential

  • Extensive experience administering Windows Server and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Proven experience supporting Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra ID, Group Policy, and identity security controls.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals including DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, and site connectivity.
  • Experience planning and delivering migrations from on‑premise file servers to SharePoint Online and OneDrive.

Desirable:

  • Comfortable working in environments aligned with ISO 27001.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining enterprise backup and DR solutions.

Candidate Specification

About You

The ideal candidate will be passionate about infrastructure engineering and motivated to develop deeper expertise in cloud technologies and cybersecurity. They will be confident operating across hybrid environments spanning both on‑premise and cloud‑based systems, with a desire to expand their skills in Azure, Microsoft 365 modernisation, and modern security practices.

They will lead by example while supporting the growth of less‑experienced team members, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence. Driven to improve processes, simplify complexity, and strengthen the organisation’s security posture, they will collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners to deliver modern, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions.
