Optoma launches Lamp-Free 500 Lumens Ultra-Portable Business Projector

London, June 2013. Optoma today announced the latest addition to their range of portable business projectors with the launch of the ML550, and extremely light 380g LED projector for the professional on-the-go. The LED-powered ML550 is capable of 500 ANSI Lumens combined with exceptional colour fidelity and reliability.

Using the very latest “lamp-free” LED technology Optoma is able to achieve an astonishing and eco-friendly 20,000 hours LED life…the equivalent of 8 hours office use per day for 10 years.

The ML550 incorporates a media player, native office viewer and built-in speaker. Projection without a laptop is straightforward using the built-in memory, a microSD card slot or USB connection. The Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) technology provides connectivity to a laptop, PC, games console or DVD player with HDMI to view business files, photos, videos and listen to music if required.

Head of Product Management Justin Halls commented. “The Optoma ML550 ultra-slim portable projector is your perfect business partner on the move or at home. The perceived brightness of an LED projector can be up to twice the brightness of an equivalent lamp-based projector. Combined with the extraordinary life of LEDs, the ML550 will be clear and bright for many years to come.”

Weighing just 380g and measuring 105 x 106 x 39mm (W x D x H) the ML550 is ideal for the business professional on the move presenting from phone or tablet using the free App: “EZ View”. Available for both Android and iOS devices, “EZ View” provides the freedom to wirelessly share and present documents, photos, videos or use the device’s camera to effectively turn it into a document camera for a more collaborative experience.

Presentation material can be instantly and wirelessly displayed from a PC, Mac or mobile device using the optional mini WiFi dongle that connects to the USB port of the ML550. Projecting photos, movies, PowerPoint presentations or spreadsheets with the ML550 is straightforward with full file support including Microsoft Office® file formats. There is no need for conversion. By using the internal memory or the micro SD slot, in most situations, that means there is no need to carry a source device.

The ML550 is 3D Ready allowing professionals and educators alike to make the most of the latest advances in 3D technology.

The Optoma ML550 projector is available in June 2013.
