Optoma launches range of Ultra Short Throw Projectors

London, August 2011 – Building on the substantial success of their short-throw projectors, Optoma today launch a completely new range of Ultra Short Throw (UST) projectors. The line-up consists of the widescreen EW675UT WXGA (1280 x 800) and EX665UT XGA (1024 x 768) model. Each model is supplied either in interactive (i) or non interactive form. Designed with the burgeoning business and 3D education markets in mind, the new projectors are capable of producing a 60 inch (152cm) diagonal image from just 39cm in the case of the widescreen versions and from 46cm away in the XGA format. All four models are 3D ready.

The EW675UTi and EX665UTi models have built in interactivity allowing the user to transform practically any surface into an interactive whiteboard using the latest PointBlank technology from Texas Instruments. In addition, the Quizdom Wizteach teaching software is included. Wizteach is a collection of interactive teaching tools over a broad range of subject areas, and will work alongside any software application, curriculum content and live over the internet. Available in 36 languages and available for Windows, Mac and Linux, WizTeach is designed to enhance lesson content and make lessons even more interactive.

Head of Product Management Justin Halls commented. “With the projectors so close to the projection surface, presenters and educators will be able to provide shadow and glare free learning using the full 3000 to 3200 ANSI Lumens of brightness. Our new UST projectors are designed to make an impact and with 3D Ready capability as standard, every presentation or lesson will be an exciting experience.”

With a contrast ratio of 3000:1 and using BrilliantColor™ technology from Texas Instruments the projectors produce superb images with pin-sharp graphics and crystal clear text.

The range has an extensive range of inputs and outputs too, including HDMI, RS232 and audio in and out. For larger classrooms and boardrooms, the presenter can take advantage of the inbuilt 10W speaker to deliver multimedia presentations to a larger audience. When a full installation is required both Crestron RoomView® and AMX compatibility are built it and our custom designed wall mount ensures a straightforward installation.

Both interactive models feature USB presenter technology allowing connection direct from PCs or laptops via a USB cable for the straightforward display of presentations and video. Additionally, attach a USB dongle to give presentations and show images in jpeg format without the need for a PC or laptop.

Optoma were the first in the industry to standardise less than <0.5W power consumption in standby mode in many of their projectors. The new range, not only delivers reduced running costs, but reinforces our commitment to “environmentally friendly” features such as timer control functions and fast shut down and start-up.

Optoma lamps are designed to give long service and brightness, lowering the total cost of ownership (TCO) and coupled with our low maintenance designs ensures there are no hidden costs to owning a projector.
