Optoma announces the New HD23 2500 ANSI Lumen 1080p Home Entertainment Projector

London, 31st January 2012 – Optoma today announced the HD23, a high brightness Full HD home entertainment projector and successor to the best-selling HD20 and HD20LV.  The new projector delivers exceptional quality Full HD viewing without dimming the lights with 2500 ANSI Lumens of brightness.

Alternatively, the HD23 can be used with large screens to deliver SMPTE standard brightness on screen sizes of up to nearly 5m - making it suitable for small auditoriums or events with a large audience.*

Justin Halls, Head of Product Management at Optoma Europe commented: “Most movies are shot at 24 frames per second. To preserve the purity of the original image the HD23 can accept high definition sources at 24 frames per second and so display source material just as intended.  The HD23 is an extremely versatile home entertainment projector, combining exceptional high brightness and cinematic picture performance with the additional option to use larger screens for larger viewing environments.”

In addition to the increase in brightness, contrast ratios (both ANSI and Peak) have increased to 500:1 and 5000:1 respectively. Optoma is committed to systematically publishing its ANSI contrast performance in addition to the more common full-on/full-off contrast ratio.  Optoma were the first major home cinema projector manufacturer to publish an internationally recognised and independently reproducible ANSI contrast performance figure and now publish both figures to assist the buying decision.

Featuring a full range of analogue and digital inputs, including 2 x HDMI (v1.3 with deep colour), connectivity to the latest digital entertainment devices such as BluRay™ players and games consoles is simple and straightforward. Not only is the HD23 perfect for big screen cinema experiences but is also bright enough to be used in ambient light conditions for fully immersive gaming.

The HD23 incorporates BrilliantColor™ multi-colour processing technology to bring stunning, vibrant colour to your screen. Using six separate primary and secondary colours to produce a new level of colour performance and control, BrilliantColor™ increases colour brightness by up to 50% over other technologies to create vibrant, true to life images.

Indeed, so confident is Optoma of its picture quality that its unique guarantee warrants image and colour quality will remain as new for at least five years.

*Calculated with the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers recommendations of a minimum image brightness of 16 Foot Lamberts. Data used: 2500 Lumens flat white field, 16:9 screen diagonal with a gain of 1.0.
