Optoma launch 4K UHD visualiser - DC554

DC554

Teaching staff, presenters and students will now be able to present work in super fine detail, thanks to a new 4K UHD document camera launched by award-winning projector specialists, Optoma.

With its clever folding arm and compact design the new DC554 is easy to store, use and move between rooms. It also makes adjustment and precise positioning straightforward.

The DC554 boasts an output resolution of up to 4K UHD for stunning image quality that will capture the attention of any class. Its 13 megapixel camera, 17x optical zoom and up to 30 frames-per-second video produces incredible detail often not visible to the human eye. Textbooks, maps, detailed diagrams and 3D objects can all be displayed to the whole class, without having to reposition the camera, thanks to an impressive A3 shooting area.

Dual VGA and HDMI inputs and outputs make presentations truly interactive and allow teachers to connect a PC or laptop to the document camera as well as the projector. Smart DC software, supplied with the DC554, allows teachers to annotate on the image captured by the visualiser and capture their lessons as video clips. They can easily switch between the image from the visualiser to external content held on the PC, such as PowerPoint, PDF digital images and webpages.

Bob Johnson, Product Manager at Optoma EMEA, commented: “The DC554 portable 4K Ultra-High Definition document camera redefines the standards of visual communication. Images are now clearer, enabling presenters to display documents, drawings or 3D objects with superb clarity.”

Suitable for classrooms, lecture theatres, boardrooms and auditoriums, the DC554 also features a handy rotating camera lens. This allows the presenter to place the item being captured the same way up as the image that is projected.  Users can simply rotate the lens to change the orientation or rotate the image in software using SMART DC.

As well as visualising 3D objects and text, the new DC554 can turn lessons into video through its recording feature.  These videos and photographs can be used in future presentations by saving them to the on-board memory or to a SD card, or simply transferring them to a PC or laptop using the USB cable supplied. With both VGA and HDMI inputs and outputs, the DC554 will connect to most devices.

It has an excellent automatic focus. Manual focus is also available when additional critical detail is needed. Images can be saved at 2MP, 5MP and 13MP resolutions to an SD card and up to 128MB can be saved to the DC554’s on-board memory.

The DC554 also has eco-friendly LED lighting built into the head with three brightness settings to produce additional lighting if required.  It can be controlled either via the remote control or the base of the unit.
