Optoma Launches HQView520 and HQView320 Image Scalers

Image processing specialist Calibre UK provides image processing technology to support Optoma Europe ProScene projectors.

London, 28 August 2012 – With the introduction of the HQView320 and HQView520, Optoma Europe has focussed on creating ProAV system solutions engineered to streamline and simplify edge blending and warping projects.

This collaboration with Calibre further extends the Optoma ProScene ProAV projector range which includes the EX855 and EW865, (XGA/WXGA 6000/5500 Lumens) and the innovative WUXGA EH7500. Created by Optoma specifically for demanding professional applications, ProScene projectors all have interchangeable lens options and a range of features suited to professional AV installations.

The two new Optoma scalers, HQView320 and HQView520, expertly edge-blend multiple, curved images seamlessly. Almost any surface can be used to display precisely controlled edge-blended and warped displays using these image scalers along with an Optoma ProScene projector. Blending solutions have traditionally been time consuming and complicated, but extensive testing and close collaboration between Optoma and Calibre has enabled both parties to re-engineer their products to seamlessly integrate. This exclusive co-development has enabled pre-sets to be developed on the Calibre products for each of the Optoma ProScene models greatly reducing the complexity and setup time of blending and warping projects.

Optoma’s ProAV post-sale service team will be on hand to support the complete blending project - the blending boxes and the projectors are treated as a single system. This greatly simplifies the support process and enables Optoma to assist in getting the blending project back on track quickly and efficiently.

Harnessing the power of the Reon™ video processor from IDT, and running HQV algorithms, HQView520 and 320 are compact yet high performance image scalers with HDMI/DVI/Component/VGA input capability and HDMI/DVI output which provides stunning image quality for professional, broadcast and corporate AV users. Both models includes 4-sided soft edge blend for seamless blending of multiple projectors and flexible geometry correction functions to adjust image shape and projector misalignment using a number of different techniques: dragging and dropping each image corner, by pin, barrel, rotation or by keystone and rotation.

Full warp mapping is also supported. A flexible and intuitive PC application is included for easy warp map creation or third-party generated warp maps can also be processed from automatic image alignment systems including Scalable Display Technologies’ products, making these them ideal for dual overlaid projector alignment in 3D projection systems.

HQView 520 is a multi-input switcher-scaler with blend and warp.  It features multi-region black level management for premium edge blending applications and 3G-SDI input and output connectivity with backwards compatibility with HDSDI and SDSDI. A Genlock input is provided for studio/staging and is compatible with bi or tri-level sync or black and burst.

“By partnering with Calibre, renowned suppliers of the best hardware blending and warping solutions in the industry, we are providing our partners with the most powerful and cost effective solutions available,” said Justin Halls, Head of Product Management, Optoma Europe. “The systems work seamlessly together to drastically reduce setup times.  If an issue does arise during the setup, our acclaimed ProScene support network ensures a swift resolution; we provide a single point of support for the entire blending and warping projection project.”

Explaining the activity between the two companies, Tim Brooksbank, Chairman at Calibre UK commented: “Optoma are consistently impressing us with their dedication to provide their ProAV customers increased accessibility to high-specification, reliable and innovative technology. In 2012 Calibre won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade sector for its outstanding export performance with its image scaler/processor products. Our relationship with Optoma builds on this and we’re delighted to be helping to show Optoma Europe’s new innovations to their best.”
